Baptized spontaneously as the "City of the Sculptures ", Resistencia is the capital of the Province of Chaco, Argentina . That idea of the siblings Boglietti "to adorn" the city of sculptures was taking shape , and at the end of the '80's this activity would become the definition of a city. With the first contest of sculptures in the open air carried out by the foundation Urunday in the central square of the city, and the provincial government's encouragement, the idea of a "city of the sculptures" ended up taking shape , to the point that nobody could remain indifferent. The families attend year after year to these encounters among big teachers of the art of sculpting , many are invited from foreign countries located as far as Europe or the Middle East, and their public that, as time goes by learns the techniques and forms, becoming more demanding, but in turn it assumes an attitude standing out the cultural development of a city full of urban problems which on the other way offers their inhabitants and occasional visitors a pregnant landscape of works of art. Resistencia has ended up overcoming in its streets and parks the three hundred sculptures, some of them of incalculable value, almost all exposed freely, in sidewalks, avenues, fronts of family houses and nobody dares to damage them, taking care of them as the best of the patrimonies. This characterizes this city like a strange phenomenon which at the same time is marking a strong cultural identity. ***********************************
